Our Active Inclusive programmes range from specific activities to inclusive family sessions, as well as support for those wanting to become more active.

Our sessions take place across the borough in accessible locations, providing participants with a place to learn exciting new skills and in some cases enjoy competitive sports.

We also work with many schools across the north west. It doesn't matter who you are - we've got something to get you active!

Active Inclusive improves access and choice to get more people in the borough active. You can choose from lots of different physical opportunities including sport, fitness sessions, swimming, one to one and group activities, cycling and walking. We can also help you access our leisure centres - seven across the borough - and support you to access other Be Well sessions, local sport clubs, and other activities in Wigan borough, for up to 12 weeks.

We also provide training for support workers and carers, to ensure physical activity is a part of everyday life. Activities are held at a wide range of locations, from leisure centres to green spaces and neighbourhood community venues. Sessions are suitable and accessible for all individuals, including those who use a wheelchair. Some activities may require transfer, and hoists are available for some activities.

    Inclusive children and young people

We have a range of activities for children and young people aged 5-19 years. Sessions are delivered by qualified, experienced staff on a weekly basis during school term times. We also offer a programme during each school holiday period.

Sessions offer young people with disabilities the chance to meet new people and have fun in a safe environment.

As part of a local partnership group we deliver inclusive events for children and young people on a regular basis. These include Just Join In festivals, giving young people with a disability the opportunity to try out different sports in an accessible environment.
