Based at Rye Harbour, RHS gives sailors the chance of sailing, on a regular basis, from April to October, in a dinghy with an experienced skipper and crew under the watchful eye of an RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Senior Instructor. We sail in adapted dinghies and only sail with our safety boat close at hand. Our charity is run entirely by volunteers. Refreshments and food are available to buy which provides a social setting for everyone to get to know each other and share experiences together. At each sailing day, held once or twice a month, during the sailing season, we cater for 30 or more people including sailors and volunteers. When the sailing season ends, we host social events and work together with the Hub on Rye Hill. Our sailors include people with autism, mild mobility issues, cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, dementia and mental health issues, who all enjoy sailing at Rye Harbour.
We do not have a hoist. However, the activities are suitable for people with mild mobility issues. All parents, carers and guardians will be responsible, at all times for their dependents either on shore or on the water.
